The Del-Mar-Va Council received $2826 from the Maryland Friends of the NRA 2017 grant to fund the purchase of 11 new rifles. The rifles purchased were MOD MARK I-FVT 22 LR. These rifles will be used throughout the year on the Rodney Scout Reservation rifle range. During the summer, they are used for the Rifle merit badge and evening open shooting. The rest of the year, the rifles will be used by the Campmasters to provide a rifle shooting program on designated weekends. Individuals providing programming are NRA Rifle Instructors.
A grant of $2600 was received from the Delaware Friends of the NRA for the revitalization of the Cub Scout Shooting Sports program. Materials were purchased to build portable BB gun backstops that can be easily transported and set up. A total of 32 backstops were made thanks to Dan Dolinger and Wally Dolinger. Also purchased as part of the grant were 50 Daisy Red Ryder BB guns. The BB guns and backstops have already been used at the 2017 day camps and Cub Family weekends.
We appreciate the generous support of the Friends of the NRA in both Delaware and Maryland.
